Simple Cookie Recipes

by allysonrosenbloom

Yummy without the fuss!
These simple cookie recipes are the yummiest and most foolproof. These are the ones I turn to time and time again, especially when I have the “help” of my first grade scientists. In fact, a couple of those six year olds can pretty much handle these recipes on their own by now with just a little help with the oven. In other words, we like to make these. Often.

There is something so special about having homemade cookies loaded up in the cookie jar, isn’t there? If you do not have a cookie jar you should consider it. Especially if you can find a nice ceramic vintage one that reminds you of days gone by. Or at least that is what I did. I found a ceramic strawberry cookie jar, just like the one my great grandmother had filled with cookies made from some of these same recipes!

If you have young ones at home like me just think how much better a freshly baked treat is compared to candy. Eggs, flour and butter? Why cookies are downright healthy compared to the artificially flavored corn syrup that you’ll find in most store candy.

All of these are “from scratch” recipes obviously but they are still quick to mix up and you probably have all the ingredients on hand already for a couple.

My all time favorite is my Simple Soft Molasses Cookie Recipe which makes the perfect saucer sized cookies that are flexible and chewy on the inside and crunch just on the outer edges. Just perfect for dipping in milk. These freeze and thaw beautifully too.

I worked for ages trying to replicate my Bubbe’s cut out cookie or sugar cookie recipe and icing. We ate plenty of mediocre cookies trying to get it just right. This led me to my simple cut out sugar cookie recipe and vanilla icing that I will never stray from! So easy and perfectly tasty every time. Ever have a batch taste too floury? Ugh, that is the worst. These don’t.

simple homemade oreos

These Homemade Oreos are really addictive. I’m ever so slightly obsessed with these and have been known to make them multiple times in one week.

If you have dairy concerns and miss good old classic chocolate chip cookies, try my Dairy Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that uses whole wheat flour, coconut oil and rolled oats. They are melt in your mouth delicious even though they are on the healthy side of the cookie spectrum.

Do you remember these Chocolate Peanut Butter Oat Cookies or bars? I sure do. They were all the rage in the midwest in the 80s. This is a new twist, pouring the batter into muffin tins to make circle cookies.

These Easy Chocolate & Egg Free cookies are great when you don’t have much else on hand other than cocoa powder. They are egg free so go ahead and eat the dough and let the wee ones have some too!

Enjoy these yummy recipes! You can never have too many cookies. Okay, that isn’t true technically but you know what I mean. Yum!
