This homemade window cleaner recipe is one I’ve been using for quite a few years. No, it doesn’t dry as quickly as an alcohol based window cleaner, which is certainly an option, but since I use distilled white vinegar for cleaning in all other parts of my home I always have it on hand and this works just fine when paired with a lintless cotton cloth.
An old cloth diaper, foursack teatowels or birdseye cotton works well for a reusable cleaning cloth for windows and mirrors.
Unlike my Natural All Purpose Cleaner Recipe that I use virtually everywhere else, this recipe has no soap so it dries clean with no streaks.
This recipe below will fit in a 16oz spray bottle perfectly.
Homemade Window Cleaner Recipe:
1 3/4 cups distilled water*
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon borax
*Using distilled water is pretty essential in this recipe. The minerals in your regular tap water will leave residue and water spots and your glass surfaces will show these.
